May 11 Food Donations Collected;
May 13-18 Donation Sorting
STEAC is partnering with Davis Postal Workers in the national 'Stamp Out Hunger' food-distribution event!
Annually, US postal workers work with organizations to collect and provide thousands of pounds of food donations. This year, donations will be collected on Saturday, May 11th.
To participate in this national effort to mitigate food insecurity, please leave food donations near your mailbox by 8:00am on Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers in Davis will pick up the donations on their mail routes throughout the day. STEAC is looking for shelf-stable food to distribute out to fellow community members. We do not accept perishable foods, alcohol, and food containers that are open.
Last year’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive in Davis brought in over 12,000 pounds of donations. Food donations are then distributed out to community members in need. Just in the three months after the 2023 Stamp Out Hunger drive, STEAC served 850 low-income households and senior citizens. Since then, the number of people requesting food support has continued to increase and support organizations are doing what they can to meet the growing need.
Thank you very much for joining this national food drive event! Visit www.steac.org to get more involved with supporting STEAC and the Yolo County community.
