STEAC STORIES

2024 STEAC Holiday Program

Weather didn’t dull the Holiday spirit for STEAC’s 57th annual Holiday Program.

Pouring rain and winds were not a match for our STEAC volunteers who showed up full of Holiday spirit ready to kick off STEAC’s annual Holiday Program on Saturday, December 14th. A record-breaking 501 families participated in the program this year and were matched with one of 333 adopters. From the bottom of our hearts, we are extremely grateful for the community’s support in helping make this program a success.

“It is incredibly heartwarming to hear how many people in our community eagerly look forward to continuing this time-honored tradition of spreading holiday cheer to local families each year,” said Kelly Coleman, Chair of the STEAC Holiday Program.

Over 125 volunteers contributed their time to help throughout all the phases of this program. From early stages of distributing flyers, to helping with client applications, and assisting with set up and clean up at the event site, we are extremely grateful for our volunteers!

For years, the First Baptist Church of Davis has allowed us to use their facilities and grounds to host this event. We are so thankful for their partnership and interest in becoming more involved with the program. This year, members of the Church participated by adopting families and assisted with client applications.

The Blanketeers from Project Linus of Yolo County Chapter generously donated 400 hand-made blankets to be distributed to our clients. The Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis Quilting Group also donated blankets for this event.

Staff from the Yolo County Library and DJUSD allowed us to use their rooms and laptops to facilitate client sign-ups. Thank you to Scott Love, Joseph Piette, Gaby Magallanes, Scott Thompson, Lisa Mayfield, and Mikayla Miller for your assistance in helping our client qualification process run smoothly.

Thank you to the Davis Enterprise and The Dirt for helping us promote our efforts for this program to our community members.

Thank you to our 5 local partner agencies who helped sign up clients this year; Li at Empower Yolo, Harmony, Becky, Silas, Synda, Lori, at Davis Community Meals and Housing, Jeni at NAMI, Rachel at the Department of Veteran Affairs, and Tiffany at Summer House.

We’re looking forward to another successful year in 2025!
