2023 Food Packs for Kids – Fight Weekend Hunger in Davis Kids

As the new school year gears up, we need your help to ensure that all children in our community have the most important school supply—food to nourish their minds and bodies. Hunger over the weekend is a real problem for families that rely on free school breakfasts and lunches during the school week.

Experiencing hunger can interfere with children’s learning at school Monday mornings, making it difficult for them to concentrate and causing them to fall behind academically.

Since 2016, STEAC has partnered with the Davis Joint Unified School District to fill the weekend hunger gap by providing low income students with a “Food Pack” every Friday during the school year. STEAC’s Food Packs for Kids Program provides health conscious and kid appropriate meals packed by volunteers and delivered to schools in Davis.

Last year STEAC provided nearly 5,000 packs to Davis students! Since the pandemic, this program has more than doubled in size and we need your help to support it and other STEAC programs that help low income families in our community during a time of rising food and housing prices.

This year a generous donor is matching gifts up to $15,000 to support this and all of STEAC’s programs! Your donations will support STEAC’s many programs to provide for the basic needs of low income individuals and families in our community. Please consider making a donation online at www.steac.org or by mailing or dropping off a check to our office located at 1712 Picasso Ave. Suite D, Davis, CA, 95618.

Our work depends on your generous giving. Thank you for your kind support.

With Gratitude,

Debra Denton
