SUMMARY:Speaker Series: Ian Evans\, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Yolo
DESCRIPTION:For three years\, Ian Evans has served as the Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the County of Yolo. Before this position\, he served as the Adult and Aging Branch Director for Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) for two years and was with the Agency for over 8 years total. Ian has extensive work experience in the fields of mental health\, substance use\, and housing\, just to name a few. He oversaw the development and formal adoption of the Yolo County Plan to Address Homelessness in 2019 and was instrumental in the creation of the current 2023-2026 Plan. With the support from additional partners\, this Plan has brought more than 140 permanent supportive housing units to Yolo County and has also provided short-term housing support during times of need\, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. \nDuring his time with Yolo County Housing\, he and his team have increased the number of project-based vouchers in the County by almost double\, which will lead to the development of more than 100 new housing units being built over the next several years and will ensure that another 100 remain affordable for at least the next 20 years. He has overseen almost $10 million dollars in infrastructure funding from the Office of Migrant Services at the California Department of Housing and Community Development to improve health\, safety\, and livability at the three Migrant Centers the Housing Authority operates. Through partnerships with local organizations\, various Board of Supervisors members\, and the County\, his team has been able to build a new playground at their Winters public housing site\, create better access to Putah Creek for residents at that same site\, build a new outdoor community space for residents at their senior/disabled public housing site in West Sacramento\, and purchase a home in Davis to ensure those living with a mental health diagnosis have a safe\, stable place to call home. Ian is a long-time Yolo resident and lives in Davis with his wife and two young boys. He is grateful to be able to work in the County he lives in. \nZoom Meeting ID: 833 4902 9380 \nZoom Passcode: 815935
