Welcome to the Short Term Emergency Aid Committee, better known around Yolo County as STEAC (spelled differently, but pronounced the same as the steak, the meat). Founded in 1967, STEAC is one of the oldest nonprofit organizations Yolo County. It is located in Davis, a central California community about 15 miles west of Sacramento. STEAC is a volunteer-oriented organization.
STEAC's purpose is to provide immediate, short-term emergency aid to families and individuals with incomes at or below the federal poverty level who live in Yolo County. Assistance includes providing help with food, rental, utility and job readiness.
For neary 50 years STEAC has provided a critical safety net for those whose needs cannot be met by other charitable or government agencies. For needy residents, it is often the agency of last resort for assistance.

Announcing the New STEAC Food Closet!
The Grand Opening on Wednesday, June 1st, was fabulous! Thanks to everyone who came out in the heat to help us celebrate. We are very grateful for the support from the Davis community, including Davis Council Members Robb Davis & Lucas Frerichs, Davis City Manager Dirk Brazil, Assistant City Manager Mike Webb, members of St. Martin's Church, Andrew Benware, Lois Wolk's representative, STEAC volunteers, girl scouts with T-Shirt bags for our closet, and Eric Roe - our amazing Project Manager who donated all of his time to manage this project!
Thank you to all!
