STEAC 2019 Holiday Program

So many of us take for granted that we can afford gifts and food for our families and friends during the holiday season. But there are many Davis families who struggle to provide food, heat, clothing, and shelter to loved ones, and therefore special meals and gifts can be challenging to provide. STEAC's Holiday Adopt-a-Family Program provides a way for community members to support these low income families and individuals during the holiday season.

Low income families and individuals, who have been screened by a crew of dedicated STEAC volunteers, are "adopted" by community members. Adopters and adoptees remain anonymous to each other.

Ways to Participate in the Holiday Program

1. Adopt an individual or a family: You can be an adopter yourself, or with your family, friends, club, group, or workplace.

As of 11/21/19:
Great news - THANKS to all Adopters we now have all 407 families and individuals "adopted!" Once again, STEAC is so grateful and awed by the generosity of our community!

If you have signed up to be an Adopter, you should have received the information by email or mail by now. If you haven't, please send an email to, or call the office at 530-758-8435 asap.

2. Apply to be adopted: If you are a Davis resident, click here to read about how you and/or your family can be adopted. The application process is over for this year, but the information will be applicable in 2020.

3. Volunteer: The Holiday Program needs lots of volunteers, especially December 3 to December 7. If you are already a STEAC volunteer, you will receive an email about how to sign up to help this year. If you have not volunteered for STEAC before or haven't filled out our Volunteer form, click here to fill out the form and let us know you are interested in helping with the Holiday Program this year.

4. Donate coats and books: STEAC also distributes coats and books to the adopted families. Donations of new or gently used clean winter coats and books, especially for children, are welcome. Coats can be dropped off during regular business hours Monday through Friday at the Davis Lyon Real Estate office at 401 Second Street, or coats and books can be delivered to the First Baptist Church in Davis (38141 Russell Blvd.) Tuesday and Wednesday, December 3-4.

5. Donate Money to STEAC: In addition to adopting a family, there are also other ways to support low income families served by STEAC's programs, including the Holiday Program. Click here to make a donation to STEAC.
